Yorkshire Office Group have been supplying office furniture to Yorkshire cities, like Sheffield, for over 20 years. In this time we have watched plenty of trends come and go. At the beginning of 2016 we sat down and had a look at what we though would be some trends that we would see this year.
Now that we are part way through the year there are definitely a few design trends popping up throughout the Uk’s offices. It is interesting to see how these trends compare to the predictions that were made at the beginning of the year.
One of the most common requests we get is the need to hide away cables. It seems with the increasing amount of technology that is readily available, office clutter is on the increase. Thankfully there are a few simple tricks that we know that will help tidy away any cables, helping your office look clear and clean.
There is also a trend in bringing the outside in. This extends far beyond the typical office plant or two. Furniture that would usually be reserved for the garden can now be readily found in offices. Also the need for light, and views, is still growing with windows getting larger and larger, closing the gap between outside and in – allowing for perfect views of the Sheffield vista.
Lounge areas are becoming more and more sought after. It is being realised that these relaxed work areas are great for rejuvenating staff, creating informal meeting spaces and bringing people closer together. When designed properly that can also add to the credibility of the workplace by being an aesthetically pleasing work space.
There has also been an increase in flexible working areas. Long gone is the row upon row of office cubicles. Instead it has been replaced with office layouts that can be changed and altered depending on your needs. Shared and adaptable furniture like benches are being used, and shared spaces where workers can share ideas and collaborate are also becoming commonplace.
