This week marks the end of 2014 and what a year it has been. During the year we have obtained some new clients, taken on new employees and reached company landmarks along the way.
This article will look back at some of our key moments in 2014, give our readers a flavour of what we value and showcase important landmarks we hope to achieve in 2015.
YOG hit one million paper sales
Reaching one million paper sales a week was a huge landmark for our company and in July 2014 we reached that target. It had been a long term target for the company as we looked to provide paper and office suppliers to businesses across the Yorkshire region.
In an interview at the time, Managing Director John Kaye broke down the awesome stats. He said; “We have 50 pallets x 46 boxes per pallet x 2,500 sheets per box per single delivery = 5.75 million sheets per single delivery into the Wakefield warehouse.”
The increase in Paper sales, as well as more efficient local distribution meant that we gained many new clients in this period, much to our delight and towards the end of the year, we were shifting way more than one million paper sheets each week.
MD takes on charity cycle ride
In the summer, John Kaye took part in a 45 mile charity bike ride, pushing himself to the limits. The 45 mile event took place around the Moors and Shores in North Yorkshire and was mainly an off road event. John was hoping for a nice gentle cycle, but with some highly competitive racers there, the day quickly turned into a ‘Tour de France’ style event.
John had never ever done anything like this before, but finished the event in 5 hours. Although he felt mentally and physically drained, he admitted the worst part had to be leaving home before 7 and be ready to cycle at 8:15am. Once again John, well done from everyone at YOG!
Joining the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce
2014 was very much a year of expanding our network, of joining the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce allowed us to meet lots of new people, expand our networks and provide a service for many new clients. It also allowed us to help other companies who were looking for introductions to some of our clients. A win-win situation!
First electric height adjustable desks
In the autumn, Yorkshire Office Group provided Horizon, a company we have been working with for a number of years, with electric height adjustable desks. We were approached by Horizons Platforms to source and supply a height adjustable electric desk because one of their employees had been suffering badly with a back problem, and needed the facility to adjust his workspace easily.
